Nasal Polyps

person suffering from sinus pain

Have you tried almost everything for chronic nasal congestion and still haven’t found relief? It could be nasal polyps. Experience the difference with Lubbock Sinus Doctor.

What are Nasal Polyps?

Nasal polyps are noncancerous growths on the lining of your nasal passages or sinuses that are soft and painless. They dangle from the ceiling of your nose like teardrops or grapes. They are usually the result of chronic inflammation and are associated with asthma, recurring infection, allergies, drug sensitivity or certain immune disorders.

Symptoms

Small nasal polyps may not create any symptoms, but larger growths or clusters of nasal polyps can obstruct your nasal passages, causing breathing difficulties, a loss of smell (anosmia), and frequent infections.

Other symptoms to look out for include:

  • Difficulty breathing through your nose
  • Decreased sense of taste, aka ageusia
  • Postnasal drip
  • Runny nose, aka rhinitis
  • Sinus headaches
  • Coughing
  • Facial pain or pain in upper teeth
  • Pressure around the sinuses
  • Itchiness around the eyes
  • Snoring and sleep apnea

When to See a Doctor

Feel free to take advantage of our Lubbock ENT services if your symptoms last more than 10 days. Symptoms of chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps are similar to those of many other conditions, including the common cold and COVID-19 infection.

Nasal polyp treatment options have expanded in the last few years. It’s now possible, in many cases, to use a device to remove them in the office, avoiding the need for the operating room. Also, there are new steroid implant stents and medications that can be used for treatment and possible eradication.

Whatever the case, Lubbock Sinus Doctor will put together a customized treatment plan that is based on your needs. We use the most advanced technology to go beyond your expectations and deliver lasting results to children and adults across Lubbock and the South Plains, TX area.
