Hearing Aids Options, Styles, and Technology

At Lubbock Sinus Doctor, we offer a range of hearing aid options and features to fit your needs.

The most basic hearing aids need the wearer to make manual adjustments when in different hearing environments. Although this type may be a low cost hearing aid, many require turning the volume up or down and pressing a button to change listening programs. On the other hand, a premium or advanced hearing aid can change automatically based on the listener’s environment. This means that the wearer doesn’t have to make manual adjustments.

When the level of technology increases in the hearing aid so does the availability of advanced features.

We offer the latest features in Hearing Aid Technology

Today’s hearing aids are discrete and reproduce the most natural sounds. Lubbock Sinus Doctor is happy to offer our patients the most up to date selection of hearing devices with the best features possible.

Hearing Aid Styles

Nowadays hearing aids come in many different styles and sizes. This is due to the advancements in digital technology that have helped to miniaturize internal components. Hearing aids can now be looked at as sleek and compact compared to the bulky and inconvenient  hearing aids of the past.

This allows for a wide range of solutions for many different hearing aid wearers and at Lubbock ENT and Hearing we can help match you with your perfect style of hearing aid.

Which Hearing Aid Style is Right for You?

  • In-The-Ear - worn in the ear canal, can be very discrete
  • Invisible in the Canal (IIC) - one of the smallest and most discreet
  • Completely in the Canal (CIC) - very similar to IIC, do not go as deep
  • In the Canal (ITC) - sit in the lower portion of the ear, very comfortable, a bit larger than IIC and CIC
  • Full Shell or In the Ear (ITE) - Can range from mild to severe use, sits in your external ear
  • Behind the Ear (BTE) - Sits on top of the outer ear with a tube going into the canal
  • Mini BTE with slim tube and tip - sits behind the ear, with a discrete tube moving sound into the ear canal
  • Receiver in the Ear (RITE) - the speaker is located in the canal and the microphone sits behind the ear
  • BTE with earmolds - hearing aids used for mild to severe hearing loss, larger but with more features
